The best outcomes from specialist orthopaedic surgery and other treatments are achieved when orthopaedic specialist care is delivered in collaboration with the other key members of each patient’s health care team. Physiotherapy is a key element of this team before and after surgery, as well as where non-surgical treatment is recommended.

Geographe Bay Orthopaedics have partnered with Busselton Physiotherapy Centre to provide collaborative and convenient care for South West clients undergoing Orthopaedic surgery and other treatments under the care of Gordon Hay.

The Integrated Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Care (IOPC) service means patients can now be seen by our Physiotherapists onsite at Geographe Bay Orthopaedics on Tuesdays each week. This can be at the time of a patient’s orthopaedic specialist appointment as well as at the time of the immediate post operative review by a patient’s surgeon.

The IOPC service promotes enhanced communication and collaboration regarding care, optimised alignment with the surgeon’s directions and reduction in the need for additional trips to healthcare practices in the period post op when mobility is most impaired. We can make your post op review a one stop process with your surgeon, the wound care nurse and one of our Physiotherapists onsite.

IOPC supports seamless follow up care at Busselton Physiotherapy Centre including clinical care, exercise programs and tracking on our Video based Physitrac App, hydrotherapy exercise protocols, progression to gym programs with the option of the inclusion of reformer rehabilitation sessions, one on one, or in dedicated rehab group sessions.

Patients being seen at Geographe Bay Orthopaedics will be given the option to participate in the IOPC service and see a Busselton Physiotherapy Centre Physio onsite at Geographe Bay Orthopaedics at 246 Bussell Hwy, West Busselton.

Appointments

Patients electing to participate in the Integrated Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Care service will need to contact Busselton Physiotherapy Centre for an appointment to see a Physiotherapist.

Patients will need to advise Busselton Physiotherapy of the time of their appointment with the surgeon to align the timing of their Physiotherapy Session.

Fees & Payment

Patients will be invoiced for their Physiotherapy fees under the IOPC service separately by Busselton Physiotherapy Centre. Patients will be invoiced via email following their sessions. Payment can be made online via direct credit, over the phone by credit card or in person at Busselton Physiotherapy Centre, 55 Bussell Hwy, West Busselton.

Fee schedule as per Busselton Physiotherapy Centre’s regular fee schedule. Busselton Physiotherapy Centre are preferred providers for MediBank Private and BUPA, meaning increased rebates available to eligible members.

Private Health Rebates

Private health rebates are payable on IOPC Physiotherapy Sessions if patients are covered for Physiotherapy by their private health insurance policy. Busselton Physiotherapy Centre are preferred providers for MediBank Private and BUPA, providing increased rebates to eligible members.

Workers Compensation, Veteran’s Affairs and Motor Vehicle Injuries

All compensable patients can receive Physiotherapy under the IOPC service. A referral will be required from your GP or Surgeon to be eligible.
