Exercise & Rehabilitation

Activity and exercise should be part of everyone’s life. If you aspire to a long, full life brimming with wellbeing, all the research points to the critical role of fitness. Injury, illness, arthritis or just wear and tear all present barriers to finding the right format, intensity and exercise protocols.

These challenges are compounded by most individuals in today’s society being time poor.

Conquering Barriers

We at Busselton Physiotherapy are committed to helping you identify weaknesses and restriction, mal-alignments and imbalances that need to be conquered or negotiated in your journey to optimal fitness, weight and shape.

Prevention

Preventing reoccurrences of injuries, including those sustained with exercise and sport, often requires modifications to exercise programmes and technique specific to you. People are not standard and neither are their problems. Don’t leave your solution down to folklore and well intentioned but not necessarily productive perspectives that every lay person seems to offer when it comes to health and fitness.

Results

Get safer and faster results with the right advice from our health professionals. Standardised formulas just don’t acknowledge how very different we all are in health, injury and recovery. With our Physiotherapists, Dietitians and exercise professionals you can now go further and faster in your pursuit of fitness and wellbeing.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”

Exercise Options

Our professional staff can partner you in structuring exercise programmes that either stand alone, compliment your existing pursuits or just work as a bridge to new activities.

Reformer Rehabilitation

CONTACT US
REFORMER REHABILITATION

Our physiotherapists are trained in Clinical Pilates. This enables the provision of full Pilates protocols to be provided to patients if required.

Our approach also enables adaptations to be made to more general exercise protocols to ensure that the suitable principles from Pilates are embraced in the way our clients move, exercise and carry their posture.

Gymnasium Programs

Gymnasiums can be you greatest friend, or punishing foe when it comes to rebuilding strength and fitness. Following clinical assessment and liaison with your Doctor and / or other health professionals as required, we will supervise your gym protocol to get you using the right gear in the right way for your body.

REFERRER INFORMATION

Our Exercise Physiologist and Physiotherapists can provide you with coaching and professional personal training in a variety of locations ranging from your home, our clinical exercise studio and various Gymnasiums in the region.

We will track and support you through the process with programming and review sessions as required to help you get the most out of gymnasium attendance. If you have an injury or impairment, the risks are just too great to leave it to chance, or even fitness staff. Such staff may not be trained in refining exercise around the challenges of pain, scarring, instability and wear that most patients are going to bring with them to the gym. In these situations you simply cannot afford to use someone other than our Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologist to get you going in the Gym if you have got, or have had, musculoskeletal problems.

Busselton Physiotherapy Centre
At Busselton Physiotherapy Centre we know that our work with clients physical health is always intertwined with their psychological and social health. Being active contributes enormously to being able to live a purposeful and connected life. When people are living with physical disabilities or persistent pain they will often find this can contribute to social isolation and ultimately what is known as social frailty. Over the life span Social Health is increasingly recognised as a key component of healthy ageing. It encompasses an individual’s ability to maintain meaningful relationships, participate in society, access social supports and having a sense of inclusion and belonging. This is not a challenge for a small part of our community with 2024 data indicating that 1 in 4 Australians frequently feel very lonely. Coupled with the challenge of an ageing population, this is a significant issue.Physical and cognitive frailty have been studied at considerable length and receive increasing recognition as issues in home and aged care contexts. Social frailty has received less attention but is starting to be recognised as a critical dimension of healthy ageing. Deterioration in social health can indeed be a warning light for the pending development of other health impairments as we age.Leading international researcher Assistant Professor Dr Ben Ho from The University of Hong Kong was keynote speaker at the recent 3rd Annual TRACS Diversity Research Network Symposium at ECU. It was great to have been invited to attend Day 3 on social health with the relevance of this to my work in the fields of Persistent Pain Management where social activation and prescribing are central to strong biopsychosocial outcomes. Ben summarised the concept of social health and frailty with the phrase “To age well is to remain connected”.Some great presentations covering themes of meaningful connection across generations, with volunteer support systems, with communities of origin for immigrants, in the context of neurodiverse individuals and in the therapeutic alliances of optimal healthcare in areas such as persistent pain management.Congratulations to Prof Sanetta Du Toit and Prof Loretta Baldassar and all involved in bringing the symposium together. Fantastic to see the symposium held in the impressive Central Perth Campus of ECU. ... See MoreSee Less
