Engaging discussion with Counselling Psychologist, Wayne McIntosh at Mondays Man Walk Busselton. Key messages around the fact that suicide can affect those from all walks in life, suicide is preventable, we need to talk about it more and check in with one another. Wayne also highlighted the value of programs such as the LivingWorks - suicideTALK course in helping anyone interested in making a difference in suicide prevention in the community. Many of the men who stayed around for this weeks post walk chat had direct experience of suicide in their families or networks and are keen to help reduce the prevalence of suicide in our communities. The man walk is about men getting together regularly in an informal and supportive environment to walk, talk and support one another. We are putting the finishing touches on our new RUNFIT running and biomechanics assessment program. Video analysis, real time feedback and a suite of tests that highlight any issues with the different body elements that can impact running injuries and performance. Our Exercise Physiologist, Clayton Trigwell works Beta testing a Tri Athlete on the Y Balance test unit. An element of the assessment that tests dynamic balance and movement control.

We need to talk more about men’s suicides with 6 males suiciding in Australia every day.
On Monday Busselton Man Walk - post walk Man Chat, is a short presentation then discussion with Wayne McIntosh. A local Psychologist who is involved in a number of suicide prevention programmes in the South West and wider regional WA.
It is an extremely important topic that the people participating in the walk are keen to highlight. The group want to be supporting those struggling, as well as help others in the community to identify and support those at risk to access the help required.
